A Note From Amy

There’s always that moment this time of year — when the weather finally turns, and being outside (and around other people) just feels a little easier again.

At A Wider Circle, that instinct to show up for one another isn’t limited to a season. It’s something we see in action all the time – a community coming together in ways that make a real difference.

Right now, so many neighbors in our region are facing real challenges. We see it every day in the families who come through our doors — navigating uncertainty, rising costs, and barriers that can feel overwhelming. These are difficult times. But if there’s one thing we know to be true, it’s that we get through them together.

That’s what makes this month especially meaningful. April is National Volunteer Month — a time to recognize the people who step forward, day in and day out, to turn compassion into action. Whether it’s helping a family select furniture, sorting donations, or showing up wherever the need is greatest, our volunteers are a powerful force behind everything we do.

Their impact is a reflection of something bigger: community in action. Neighbors supporting neighbors. People choosing to be part of the solution, and in doing so, creating not just immediate relief, but lasting change.

After all, lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation. It takes all of us.

To everyone who gives their time, energy, and care — and to all of you who make this work possible in so many ways — thank you. You are what makes this community strong.

With gratitude,

Amy Javaid
President & CEO

P.S. Fresh air is great. Fresh perspective is better. You’ll find both here! Come volunteer.

Fill the Need

In every issue of First Friday, Fill the Need highlights three specific ways you can help make an immediate impact. Whether you choose to Drop It Off, Ship It, or Fund It, your support makes it easy to fill our most urgent needs.

Here’s how you can Fill the Need this April:

Drop It Off: We have a high need for women’s professional clothing, especially in plus-sizes! Click here for donation drop-off information.
Ship it: We still have a big need for new pillows for the families participating in Home Reimagined next month! Click here to purchase these items and have them shipped directly to us.
Fund it: Provide much-needed ongoing support by becoming a recurring donor! Click here to sign up.

With your support, we can provide our neighbors with exactly what they need, when they need it most.
