Eddy Ameen, PhD
Chief Program Officer
“Supporting and strengthening programs that help people living on the margins has long been how I’ve put my skills to use. What drew me to A Wider Circle is the energy and commitment of the staff and the journey this organization is willing to take to make the greatest impacts possible in our community.”
Eddy Ameen, PhD, joined A Wider Circle in June 2022 as Chief Program Officer. With degrees from Northwestern University, Boston College, and University of Miami, he completed his psychology doctoral internship in the DC Superior Court’s juvenile division. Eddy spent 8 years at the American Psychological Association, where in his latest role he oversaw the organization’s departments for graduate students and early career psychologists. He then served as Chief of Community Programs at Sasha Bruce Youthwork before joining A Wider Circle. He is the past chair of StandUp for Kids, a national homeless youth organization that provides street outreach, housing support, and other youth services across the US. For 3 years, he was also executive director of its Miami chapter. Eddy previously chaired an LGBTQ youth advocacy coalition that successfully improved several DC laws and policies. He also co-facilitated the District’s first community-driven plan to end youth homelessness. As a volunteer, he conducts psychological evaluations for asylum seekers, serves as a mentee to a child in foster care, and organizes mutual aid efforts in DC’s Ward 4.
