Service and Advocacy Partners
We are incredibly grateful to work with more than 300 nonprofits, government agencies, and community groups who refer individuals and families to our services, partner with us to deliver programming, and provide support to clients referred by A Wider Circle’s resource navigation service.
We are also proud to be members of two coalitions in our efforts to advocate for a future without poverty:
- The Poor People’s Campaign: The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival picks up the unfinished work of the original Poor People’s Campaign, started by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968. Today, the campaign works across the country to “shift the moral narrative, impact policies and elections at every level of government, and build lasting power for poor and impacted people” by confronting poverty, systemic racism, ecological devestation, among other interlocking issues. Through our Advocacy program, we work with the Poor People’s Campaign’s Maryland and Montgomery County chapters.
- The Way Home Campaign: The Way Home Campaign brings together 110 organizations and over 7,000 voters to end chronic homelessness in Washington, DC. The campaign advocates for budgets and policies that put our unhoused neighbors first.
Careers
Since 2001, A Wider Circle has served thousands of individuals and families living in poverty. Through our holistic approach we provide families with furniture, beds, and essentials; work with job seekers to attain stable, substantive employment; and bring much-needed services and programs directly to under-resourced neighborhoods.
We cannot do this work alone. Join our team and share your talent and skills to help end poverty in our region. We are seeking dedicated individuals to serve in a variety of positions.
A Wider Circle is committed to having a team that is diverse and ensuring that all qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, gender (including gender identity or expression), religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, or other non-merit factor. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
We care about the health of all in our shared space. As of May 12, 2023, in accordance with the end of the federal public health emergency, we have suspended our policy requiring staff members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This policy may be reinstated if we deem it necessary to do so (e.g., due to a spike in COVID cases in the region).
A Wider Circle follows the CDC-recommended COVID safety protocols, including optional but encouraged mask-wearing, the washing and sanitizing of hands, and staying at home if you have recently recovered from or were exposed to COVID-19.
