Shelter Support
Program
The Shelter
Support Program utilizes a holistic approach to serving families living
in homeless or domestic abuse shelters. This program
provides workshops and in-kind support to some of the most vulnerable of
our neighbors in need by partnering with shelters in the DC region.
A Wider Circle recruits
local specialists who volunteer their time and resources to lead
workshops for shelter residents. These workshops provide residents
with the tools they need to make healthy decisions as they move out
of the shelters and make a fresh start.

Additional
aspects of this program include:
- Enhancements
to shelters through gardening, painting, and other beautification
projects
- Provision
of furniture and other home items to families as they transition
out of the shelters
- Workshops
for adults and children on the following topics:

- T'ai
chi
- Stress
management
- Anger
management
- Financial
planning
