Shawn Yancy is a primary news anchor at Fox 5 in Washington, DC. You can catch her weekdays on the 6, 6:30, 8, 10 and 11pm newscasts.
Shawn’s second day on the job became her first big story in Washington: the September 11th terrorist attacks. Over the years, she’s earned a number of prestigious journalism awards including the Edward R. Murrow Award for an investigative series at N.I.H. and an Emmy Award for outstanding news anchor. Shawn has worked with various organizations that benefit women and children including Dress for Success DC, Martha’s Table, St. Ann’s Center for Children, Youth & Families, and Best Friends. She started her own annual charity fundraiser in 2010 to benefit local organizations that help women and children in the Washington, DC community.
Shawn is also an artist and an entrepreneur. She runs her own art & design firm, and has a jewelry and accessories boutique.
In her spare time, Shawn enjoys traveling, painting, interior decorating and spending time with her husband and three sons. She also love eating jelly belly sours, sushi, and really spicy food (but not necessarily in that order).
